Freemasonry has its roots in the stonemasons of 14th-century England, but the organisation we know today was born in the 18th century. Today, Freemasonry describes itself as a philosophical, charitable secret society, reserved for its members.
Following the popular belief that the Marquis of Pombal was a Freemason, we will discover the “City-Temple” full of Masonic symbolism that he designed after the great earthquake of 1755.
