Porto’s offers an interesting diversity of monuments and heritage: from the largely intact Medieval city center, UNESCO classified, to the grandiose baroque testimonials.

Your local guide will take you for a stroll through the narrow streets of the city center, or/and in to the river banks of the Douro while sharing his/her favourite stories and anecdotes as well as historical facts and curiosities about the city.   

• Labyrinthine streets of medieval origin around the Cathedral of the city Invicta.
• S. Bento railway station and its entrance hall decorated with nearly 20,000 tiles, one of the most beautiful in the world.
• Palácio da Bolsa, a 19th century building that is the headquarters of the Associação Comercial do Porto.
• After a coffee accompanied by the unrivaled Porto pastry, we take you to cross the most famous monument in the city: Ponte D. Luís I.

Our guide will hand you over to the Porthouse’s own guide and he/she will walk you through the history of wine production in the Douro Valley region of Portugal.

You’ll also have a chance to sample the three main styles of port wine:

• Ruby (the variation we typically see here in the UK),
• Tawny (aged longer for a more mellow flavour),
• Branco (white port from white grapes, and served chilled).
